Agency creating important video telling children that they are not the cause of parents addictions
BALTIMORE, MD, March 2021 — Channel Communications has been awarded an additional marketing assignment from the Frederick County Health Department for the Kids Like Us initiative (KLU). KLU is a counseling support program targeted to youth (and their families) who are impacted by parental alcohol and drug misuse. The program is confidential and free of charge and is staffed by Behavioral Health Services counselors and art therapists. The program is designed to help youth learn that they are not the cause of the problem nor are they alone. KLU desires to break the cycle by encouraging students to engage in addiction prevention.
Channel was tasked to create a short format video for students in grades 4 through 8. The video is a combination of live action and animated vignettes focusing on four stories of home life situations. The video takes a youthful approach to let students know that help is available. This will be shared with fourth grade students in Frederick County.
“Kids Like Us is a great approach to help young people see that they’re not the cause of the situation and that help is here. We’ve learned that students impacted by alcohol and drug misuse at home may have troubles verbalizing experiences and find art helpful to share their feelings.” said Rick Grant, Vice President of Channel Communications.
