Somerset County Health Department Enlists Channel Team to Handle Marketing Efforts

Somerset County (MD) Health Department Enlists Channel for Underage Drinking Initiatives and Opioid Addiction Prevention.

BALTIMORE, MD, January 5, 2018—Cory Farrugia, president of Channel Communications, announced that the agency has been selected by Somerset County (MD) Health Department to develop outreach campaigns to help address and reduce underage drinking and the rise of opioid addiction.

“We are excited to be working with Somerset County Health Department in 2018 to communicate their prevention initiatives to the county,” said Farrugia. Cory went on to say, “The Channel team is committed to social marketing, and campaigns that focus on raising awareness, achieving social change to ultimately save lives. It’s important work that we take very seriously.”

The objectives of the underage drinking campaign are to reduce underage drinking overall and reduce underage binge drinking in the county. Strategy centers on raising awareness of behaviors for underage drinking and underage binge drinking while reinforcing responsible drinking behaviors. The campaign will have a new stand-alone landing page (http://acleangetaway.org/) and concentrate on social media platforms to drive engagement.

Channel was also brought on board to refresh the current opioid addiction prevention campaign, Unmask Addiction (https://www.unmaskaddiction.org/), which aims to destigmatize and prevent opioid dependency. The strategy focuses on raising awareness of Maryland’s Good Samaritan Law, informing residents of Prescription Drug Take Back Day and boxes, promoting opioid facts and treatment options and educating residents on the life-saving drug, Narcan. Media tactics employed include social media engagement, Facebook advertising, video PPC, and banner ads to drive residents to the campaign’s refreshed website.
